How to lower the pH and GH of water? It’s easy; you just need to bind all kinds of water-hardening positively charged chemical compounds. That’s right, POSITIVELY. That’s the key word.
This fact is overlooked by everyone—from manufacturers to aquarists. We remember from chemistry that some particles do not react with each other due to their charge (negative and positive ions). Nothing has changed in this area! If you are using an ordinary, even the most expensive product, there may still be a lot of positively charged particles in your aquarium, as a regular filter or product repels them from each other, meaning it cannot react with them. The solution is simple. Use a filter that attracts such particles and destroys them. This way, you will permanently lower the pH and GH.

And what about negatively charged particles that harden water?
