It softens water by precipitating calcium and magnesium ions. To maintain the proper level of trace elements required for the healthy development of discus fish, use Discus Trace. Neutral Regulator and Discus Buffer can be used together to achieve the desired pH during water changes and topping up evaporated water. The table below provides values for R/O water, which lacks buffering properties.

Instructions:

Use 1 teaspoon (7 g) for every 40-80 L per day, until the desired pH is reached. Then, add once a month or during water changes. To raise the pH, use Neutral Regulator. The table below includes the ratios for using both products. The scheme assumes the use of unbuffered water (RO or DI). If a buffering agent has already been added to the water, the chart values should be treated as a starting guide.

Neutral Regulator   Discus Buffer pH Reaction
1 : 1 6.8
1 : 2 6.4
1 : 3 6.2
1 : 4 6.1
1 : 6 6.0
1 : 9 5.8
