Repti-Zoo SuperSun 125W - mercury vapor lamp

The high-quality SuperSun lamp creates a heat island by emitting its rays at a 50-degree angle, while UVB and UVA radiation is emitted over a much larger range. This solution allows the animal being raised to choose the heat zone in which it wants to stay while having constant access to UV rays.

The use of the SuperSun bulb solves the problem of installing many different bulbs with various characteristics (daylight, UVB, heating), allowing us to provide the animal with all the necessary light rays using just one bulb.

The UV emission in a mercury vapor lamp is much higher than in traditional compact UV bulbs or fluorescent lamps (12.0), which allows for the lamp to be mounted at a much higher height, positively affecting the appearance of the terrarium.

UV radiation stimulates the synthesis of vitamin D3, increases appetite, helps recognize surroundings and sexual partners, aids in food search, and increases the vitality and activity of the animal.

Birds and reptiles, unlike humans, possess appropriate receptors to receive ultraviolet light. The lack of UV radiation in the lighting provided to our charges is often underestimated by caretakers, as mentioned, humans cannot perceive this light and focus on lighting in the visible spectrum for themselves.

Mercury vapor lamp – a lamp that does not require a ballast. Instead, it is equipped with a filament, similar to a traditional bulb. The filament is connected in series with the igniter and in lamps of this type acts as a ballast. The igniter is a source of light containing mercury spectral lines with a large pressure broadening.
