Description
Synthetic sea salt intended for aquariums with fish stock, as well as for aquariums with less demanding corals and invertebrates. When setting up new aquariums, we recommend introducing the first animals no sooner than 10-14 days after filling the tank. Freshly prepared seawater, after dissolving the salt, can be used immediately for water changes.
Preparation method:
The salt should be dissolved in prepared demineralized water. The water temperature should be around 24°C (75°F). To achieve a salinity of 30 ppt, approximately 345 g (12.16 oz) of salt should be dissolved in 10 l (2.7 US gal) of water. The solution should be mixed vigorously for about 15 minutes. After complete dissolution and achieving full clarity, the water is ready for use. The salt should be stored in a dry and shaded place. Dissolved salt should be used within 5 days. Keep out of reach of children. Product for use only in aquariums. Not suitable for consumption. Safety data sheet available upon request.
Products Aquaforest are created in the European Union, in strictly controlled laboratory conditions to meet the highest quality standards. Each product is made from carefully selected raw components/materials in quantities that guarantee a uniform composition. Each of our batches is tested by ICP-OES before packing the salt. Since May 2017, we have introduced the possibility for customers to view the results online.
How is sea salt tested?
We mix our sea salt (each batch weighing 1 ton – 2204 pounds), taking 3 separate samples from each batch at the production stage for testing. Each of these samples is dissolved in 15 liters (4 US gal) of RO water. Our team performs ICP-OES analysis to check whether the chemical composition is homogeneous and to exclude the presence of unwanted contaminants. Note: Even if we mix the salt thoroughly, the composition of the packages/containers may not be identical. Parameters in the containers may vary slightly, and a difference of 2-3% is acceptable. These differences arise due to the varying physical properties of the mixture and limitations of available processing techniques. However, the measurement deviations are smaller than the typical tolerance range for tests commonly used by hobbyists.
