Optimal substrate
Substrate is an important part of aquarium setup, as many animals dig in the substrate and search for food. Plants also need to anchor strongly in it and their roots absorb nutrients. Digging fish necessarily require substrate that does not have sharp edges. Under-gravel heating is only recommended for medium to coarse substrates, as very fine substrate prevents the proper circulation of water.

Usage
Rinse the substrate briefly with tap water to remove the dust generated during transport. Lay the substrate over the nutrient substrate (JBL AquaBasis) to support plant growth.
