Optimal substrate
The substrate is an important part of setting up an aquarium, as many animals dig in the substrate and search for food. Plants also need to anchor themselves firmly in it and their roots must absorb nutrients. Digging fish necessarily require substrate that has no sharp edges. Under-gravel heating is only recommended for medium to coarse substrates, as very fine substrate prevents proper water circulation.

Usage
Rinse the substrate briefly with tap water to remove dust generated during transport. Lay the substrate over a nutrient substrate (JBL AquaBasis) to support plant growth.
