The transparent balls gradually dissolve upon contact with water, releasing additional portions of filter bacteria and enzymes that support their growth. Each individual ball contains millions of live bacteria and enzymes. After being added to the aquarium, the bacteria and enzymes inside each ball begin the process of reducing ammonia and nitrites, as well as decreasing the amount of organic waste, which is a common cause of water cloudiness.
