Hydrolon consists of three parts. Two outer layers are separated by a layer of nylon fibers. The outer layers are highly hygroscopic and have a structure that facilitates root penetration into the material. The middle layer is well-aerated, allowing roots access to moisture and air. Water in contact with Hydrolon is quickly distributed across the entire surface of the material, similar to natural materials such as bark, peat, etc.

Plants easily thrive on Hydrolon regardless of how it is installed. The constant access to moisture and air enables and accelerates the growth of any plant on any element of the terrarium.
