Searching for vitamins in the sand is a common issue for desert reptiles, especially for the bearded dragon and the leopard gecko. This can lead to the animal getting impacted. At the same time, sand is the only substrate that reflects the natural environment of desert animals. Therefore, the producer Komodo has responded to the needs of the animals and the concerns of breeders by creating edible sand.

What is Komodo CaCo Sand?
It is natural calcium carbonate. Exactly the same compound constitutes the popular calcium (calcium) for reptiles and amphibians from all brands. The sand is made from 100% calcium carbonate CaCo3.

Is the sand safe?
It is the best substrate for desert animals. It reflects their natural environment, allows for digging, egg-laying, reduces stress, and enhances the natural behavior of the animals. At the same time, edible sand komodo poses no threat if ingested. Additionally, CaCo3 prevents the development of mites and bacteria in the substrate, creating a fully safe and hygienic environment.

Can the sand be eaten?
Yes, the sand can be eaten by all species of desert reptiles. It is a natural source of calcium and is easily digested.

What if my reptile keeps eating sand?
The animal is not in danger. However, constant snacking on sand may indicate signs of calcium deficiency. In this case, the breeder should increase the calcium dosage or change the UVB lighting.

How to clean the substrate and when to replace it?
The sand should be spot cleaned in case of soiling. We recommend Repti-Zoo Sand Scoope for sifting. The substrate should be completely replaced at least every 12 months.

Recommended for:
- Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps)
- Leopard Gecko (Eublepharis macularius)
- Steppe Tortoise (Testudo horsfieldii)
- Leopard Tortoise (Stigmochelys Geochelone)
- and other reptiles from desert and semi-desert areas

The package contains 4 kg of CaCo3 sand in "white" color.

Usage:
A 4kg package is sufficient for an area of 60x60cm. If using a heating mat, a substrate layer above 1cm may reduce the efficiency of the mat.
