Zoolek test Ca and Mg

The measurement method is based on titration, which involves adding a reagent drop by drop to the tested water sample until a color change is observed, in accordance with the attached color standard. The measurement result (concentration of Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions) is obtained in mg/l, and the total hardness is expressed in degrees German.

In planted aquariums, besides the total concentration of calcium and magnesium (total hardness), the mutual ratio of the concentrations of these elements is important. Sometimes there is a deficiency of magnesium despite normal total hardness. Magnesium is fundamental for the proper growth of plants - it is at the center of the chlorophyll molecule responsible for the photosynthesis process. The correct ratio of magnesium to calcium content should be around 1:5. The Aquatest Ca-Mg also measures total hardness with high accuracy over a wide range of values.
