Healthy aquarium with almost natural conditions
The proper water parameters in an aquarium depend on the fish and plant stock. Even if the water looks clear, it may be contaminated. Poor values can lead to diseases or algae in the aquarium. For a healthy aquarium with almost natural conditions, regular monitoring and adjustment of water parameters are important.
Recommended pH values:
- Freshwater aquarium (multi-species aquarium): 6.5-7.5
- Lake Malawi/Tanganyika aquarium: 7.8-9.2
- Aquariums with vegetation and a small number of fish (Aquascaping): 6.0-7.0
- Marine aquariums: 7.9-8.5
- Garden ponds: 7.5-8.5
