In a marine aquarium, it is very important to continuously monitor the levels of calcium, magnesium, and carbonate hardness (otherwise known as alkalinity). The recommended KH level in a marine aquarium is 6.5 – 8.0 dKH. The test is sufficient for 78-100 determinations of carbonate hardness in the aquarium, within the range indicated in the table.
