CAT/050 is used in aquariums to protect protein skimmers from so-called overflow, preventing the skimmer's waste from returning to the water circulation. The device can also be used to prevent water spillage in the main tank, for example, due to clogging of the inspection or overflow pipes, and can also monitor the operation of automatic top-up systems, etc.

Included with the CAT/050 are two sets of brackets, one of which allows for mounting the liquid level sensor in most skimmer cups (requires drilling a 6mm and 12mm hole in the cup lid), the other is for mounting the level sensor on the edge of the tank. The included brackets have an adjustable height setting for the sensor.
