Terrario Paraguay Muds Pieces - clumped peat 5l
Paraguay Muds clumped peat from Terrario is a 100% natural, fertilizer-free substrate for any terrarium used in professional breeding and zoos. The pieces substrate version is a unique substrate with slightly different applications than other Paraguay peat substrates. Large clumps retain moisture for a long time. They act like a "battery" for water. Additionally, it can be used as an aquarium insert to lower the pH of the water.

Description
Paraguay Mud:
A substrate with a very wide range of applications. At the same time, its versatility does not make it inadequate in specific conditions and cultivations with very specific requirements. Commonly used in professional breeding of reptiles, amphibians, and plants, as well as in zoos.
- in a tropical terrarium:
The substrate is characterized by high water absorption. It can absorb a significant amount of water for a long time and maintain high humidity in the terrarium. But that's not all! Due to its natural fungicidal properties, this substrate will not mold. Peat will behave as it does in nature, meaning it can remain moist for hundreds of years, supporting life on its surface, such as plants or mosses. Therefore, it is recommended as a primary substrate or an additive to other substrates in humid terrariums, and even in those partially submerged in water.
- dry terrarium:
The substrate will absorb any liquid. This is why it is perfect for a terrarium with turtles. Peat, despite its origin, does not need to be misted or kept constantly moist. Even when "dried to a crisp," it retains its natural properties.
- plant breeding:
Some plants require low soil pH. Paraguay Muds peat has a pH of 3.5 - 4.5, which is very low. You can mix this substrate with others (even with soil) to achieve the desired pH (e.g., 5 or 6). Of course, peat, just like in nature, can be a standalone substrate for plants. But that's not all! Drop a cube into a bottle of water to lower the pH of the water you use to water your plants. Tap water has a pH that is a few degrees too high.
Grading of Pieces:
This is a unique grade for Paraguay Muds. Its structure resembles a mixture of hard, dry peat balls of various sizes. When moistened, it becomes soft but still remains clumped. The peat chunks act like a "battery," absorbing a large amount of water and slowly releasing it. It is ideal for maintaining humidity for a very long period of time. Adding this substrate to another will ensure optimal moisture for an extended duration. It can be used as a homogeneous substrate. Plants root poorly in it, but you can always break it into smaller pieces for the plants if you wish. If not, choose the "powder" or "fibres" version.
Application in aquaristics:
- lowering the pH of water
- counteracting algae
- water disinfection
Stones, substrates, and ceramic inserts raise the water's pH, which is usually already high (tap water). And it is known that aquatic plants prefer neutral pH (pH 7) or slightly lower 6.8 - 6.5 pH. The products work for a short time and are excessively expensive. But you don't have to buy unknown man-made products. Nature has taken care of every element of the great puzzle called biology. Paraguayan Muds peat will lower the water's pH for a long period. Just place the cubes in the filter, and the pH will start to slowly decrease. Adjust the number of cubes to the size of the aquarium and the starting pH to maintain this parameter at a low level.
Paraguay Muds as a filter media is completely safe for fish, shrimp, plants, and everything that may swim, crawl, and grow in the aquarium. It is not suitable as aquarium substrate, as it is ultra-light and will always float. Use it only as filter media.
An additional advantage is the fact that algae have significantly lower chances of developing in low water pH. Plants will then get a "boost" by taking away nutrients, access to light, etc., from the algae.
And one more advantage resulting from the natural properties of peat: water disinfection. Prevention of mold, fungi, and diseases.
Safety and freshness of the substrates from the Heart of the Jungle series:
Producer Terrario makes every effort to ensure that freshly "harvested" substrate reaches you. A long storage time can adversely affect plant substrates. Therefore, Terrario As the only one, he uses fast airlines to pick up the substrate from its place of natural origin.
Volume and care.
Peat is dried, which guarantees 100% efficiency in water absorption. Peat can be misted or even completely soaked before placing it in the terrarium. The volume in the package is 5 liters, but after soaking (and tearing in the case of clumped and fibrous peat), the volume of the substrate is greater.
The substrate is specially dedicated for:
- All land tortoises
- Eyelash Gecko
- Madagascar Day Gecko
- Mud Lizard
- Royal Python
- Tree frogs
- Hermit Crab
- Far Eastern Toad
- Horned Frog
- other reptiles that enjoy high humidity
- all amphibians, including tailed amphibians

- Aquarium supplement: lowering water pH, preventing algae, disinfecting water.
