The CBG-500 filter has a three-stage filtration system relying on the operation of three different filter media. Each medium has a separate specially designated space, and the loose media has a container - basket. The filter media feature a special "drawer" with a handle, allowing for quick removal from the filter.
Biological filtration is provided by bioceramic balls with varying porosity. The balls serve as a habitat for bacteria that reduce NH3, NH4, and NO2 levels in the aquarium, while also positively impacting fish health and providing natural nourishment for plants.
Chemical filtration is ensured by activated carbon, which binds metals and their compounds, humic substances, pesticides, and by-products of metabolism excellently. It acts as a clarifying medium for the water and reduces unpleasant odors. It improves water quality, including biological filtration.
Mechanical filtration is provided by a sponge of appropriate gradation. It removes all impurities from the water, clarifying it from dust, plant debris, or small floating substrate particles.

Water intake for the CBG-500 filter occurs via two tubes with different applications. The lower tube draws water from the nearest possible vicinity of the bottom. This way, the filter sucks in impurities settled on the bottom, which are a common cause of bottom sludge and deterioration of water quality. The second intake is located partially above the water surface - commonly referred to as a surface skimmer. It draws water directly from the water's surface, removing any floating contaminants and proteins, which are visible to the naked eye as a greasy film. This exceptionally unsightly deposit is highly dangerous for health and water quality, so a filter that neutralizes it ensures the best and complete quality of water filtration.
The filter features smooth, stepless flow regulation, and thus efficiency. The adjustment allows the filter to be adapted for aquariums from 38 to 115 liters in capacity.
An additional flow regulation is placed on the skimmer tube, which allows for easy adjustment of the efficiency of this inlet along with the lower inlet from 0% to 100% flow.
