About the new Health Water filter and the old HW series:
The HW series (HW-302, 303, and 304) is currently the best-selling external filters not only in Poland. Their popularity is due to the low price combined with good quality and very large capacity. Currently, the manufacturer SunSun is introducing a new series of Health Water filters (702, 703, and 704) as an upgrade to the previous HW models. The filters are based on proven technology and a design that has been tested over the years by hundreds of thousands of users. The new HW still provides excellent filtration through a large capacity, but their design has been improved, and the filter motor has been changed. Read about the differences in the paragraph below:
What's new? What are the differences between the new and old HW?
At first glance, there is a significant difference in the appearance of the filter. The new shape of the outer structure is the result of the following changes introduced in the design:
Guides. So, you will always close the filter correctly.
The possibility of leaking from the main seal of the filter has been eliminated, which was caused by the angled placement of the lid. That is, the possibility of closing the filter at an angle deviating from the correct radius in the horizontal plane. The new filter has special guides that ensure the filter is closed in the correct position. Therefore, the most common leaking problem, which was essentially the user's error, has been eliminated.
Double bucket. Reinforced walls.
The main bucket, in other words, the container for filter media, has reinforcing columns. This solution has its motives as it provides adequate stiffness of the structure and durability. Additionally, it effectively dampens vibrations, reducing the noise of the filter's operation.
Stop airlocks! Bubbles are good only in champagne.
Over 90% of canister filters have a somewhat flawed design of the manual pump. By design, it is responsible for filling the filter and hoses and is meant to serve for venting the filter. Often, it is precisely this component that is responsible for airlocks in the filter. It is literally a place where air gets trapped. This leads to clogging and manifests as continuous expulsion of air. Pumping or shaking the filter does little to help and this can last for several days. Horrible!
The new Health Water has avoided this problem through water flow channels and a different placement of the impeller. The air bubble no longer has its "safe" place and is immediately "expelled" by the filter.
New energy-efficient motor
Energy consumption has been reduced by 17%. This is good news amidst constantly rising electricity prices. You can save even 20 PLN a year just on electricity!
New inlet and outlet
This element has also been modernized. Both the inlet and outlet are equipped with a clamp for the edge of the aquarium. The package also includes suction cups for the hose and hose clamps, ensuring the durability of the installation.
Inlet: features modules that increase the length of the tube. Length from 15 to 60 cm.
Outlet: Rain bar. It has modules. Length from 20 to 40 cm. The outlet is rotatable.
A large filter means better filtration.

It is not the brand, price, or praise from the manufacturer that makes a filter good. The principle is simple: the more filter media, the better the filter. It is worth noting that HW filters are among the largest on the market. Most manufacturers only increase the pump power, which is counterproductive, but it looks better on paper and convinces unsuspecting customers. A filter should filter through filter media! And the pump power should be appropriately matched. Too high water flow literally washes out the filter, not allowing for mechanical, biological, or chemical filtration.
