pH tests of water show that popular ceramic and ceramic-like inserts on the market have alkaline values, meaning they change the pH value, significantly hardening the water. (SIPORAX 9~10, Substrate PRO 8~9).

NEO MEDIA PURE is a true neutral filtering material and has a minimal impact on pH. The NEO MEDIA PURE insert does not raise the pH of a slightly acidic aquarium and does not lower the pH of a slightly alkaline aquarium. It is suitable for all aquariums, such as: planted, shrimp tanks, Malawi, Tanganyika, marine including SPS corals.

The NEO MEDIA Pure insert does not change the pH, maintaining it at a level of 6~7. Additionally, the NEO MEDIA inserts come in three variations: PURE, SOFT, and HARD, which respectively: do not change pH, soften water, harden water.

Diverse porosity:
The production process along with the fiber structure has allowed the creation of an insert that has varying pore sizes, allowing for the settlement and rapid development of different types of bacteria responsible for the transformation of harmful substances. The appropriate ecosystem developed inside the insert is a decisive factor responsible for biological filtration.
Diverse porosity is not available in ceramic inserts made through firing, where the pores in such inserts always have the same size.
