Evolution Aqua K1 Media 25l - movable filter insert "Kaldnes"
Moving filter media provide much more effective biological filtration compared to even the best and most porous ceramics. This happens because this media has better access to oxygen and nutrients, which affects the faster growth of nitrifying bacteria, ensuring the best filtration performance of your filter.

Description
How does the moving insert work?
The K1 insert should be able to move continuously and throughout the entire space designated for it. The lightweight insert can be easily "carried away" by the water current, thus remaining in constant motion. It effectively reduces ammonia, ammonium, and nitrites from the water through the action of nitrifying bacteria.
Why is the moving insert better?
It is the rapid growth of nitrifying bacteria that effectively and quickly lowers the levels of NH3, NH4, and NO2, rather than just their presence. Through vigorous mixing and constant collision with each other and the walls of the filter, the K1 cubes clean themselves and shed bacteria. This has a significant impact on filtration due to two advantages resulting from the shedding of bacteria from the K1.
First: it creates space and opportunity for new bacteria to colonize. Second: the bacteria end up in other media and the tank. They settle there and improve filtration.
Popularity and research on K1:
Moving inserts are gaining increasing popularity. Research conducted by Evolution Aqua for the past 15 years shows that moving inserts are the future of all water bodies, including: ponds, freshwater aquariums, and marine tanks.
In which filters can it be used? How to use it?
In any filter with a media container. That is:
- pond. Pressure and flow filters. Branded ones like Jecod CBF or UBF, or homemade from tanks, barrels, or large baskets.
- marine aquaristics: There will definitely be a place for this insert in a sump, even if you didn't plan for it before. The insert can be used with others. The floating K1 medium does not take up space from existing inserts.
- freshwater aquarium: External filter; you can place K1 in the media basket, for example, filling 1/2 of the basket's volume. Internal filter; such as SunSun CHJ or Sea Star turbo or Aquael Turbo have baskets for such inserts.
Does K1 have to float? Can it be "static"?
The insert can also be used as a regular biological insert; it is not required for it to be moving. However, the possibility of it floating and mixing increases its efficiency.
The packaging contains 25l of Evolution Aqua K1 MEDIA insert.
