Paludarium. What is it?
The name paludarium comes from the Latin words palus (swamp, marsh) and arium (closed container). A paludarium is essentially a representation of the transition zone between the aquatic and terrestrial areas, along with their highly diverse vegetation. This ecotone enhances the possibilities for decoration and species diversity of the flora. You can effectively recreate what is known in ecology as the Edge Effect.
What do you need?
In terms of technique and accessories, you need nothing else. Everything you need is included in the paludarium set, which includes:
- glass container
Highly transparent glass and the use of clear silicone for bonding fully showcase the beauty of the nature contained within. The glass is shatter-resistant thanks to the manufacturing technique known to e.g. aquarists.
- stand
Don't worry about a base for the tank. An elegant stand allows you to place the paludarium on any cabinet.
- lighting
Plants need light for photosynthesis. And this is included in the set. A small and discreet lamp (only 7 mm thick) will provide the necessary light for plant life.
- water filter
This is a container where you can place cotton or sponge to filter the water. This is crucial for the clarity of the water and for any ornamental fish that may live in it.
- pump and waterfall
The set includes a pump. It powers the water filter and has an additional water outlet equipped with a transparent tube, allowing you to create a water cascade.
How to get started? Choose the paludarium set
It's simple! The set is basically already assembled. You just need to place the lamp on it. The rest, that is the fun of creating, is up to you. Buy substrate, such as river gravel (about 2 kg), and spread it on the bottom of the tank. Collect stones or buy them at a garden store and create decorations with them. You can find plants in your garden or at a store (e.g. Obi). Choose those that like moisture. Have fun arranging and transplanting your plants according to your imagination.
