The application is simple and does not require pre-washing of the product. After "starting" the aquarium, the substrate provides sufficient nutrients, so additional fertilizers are not necessary in the initial stage. Our product is perfect for both experienced breeders and those just starting their journey with aquaristics.
Aqua Soil is produced so that the granules have as many pores as possible, making them similar to activated carbon or ceramics. This promotes the colonization of nitrifying bacteria, particularly those from anaerobic strains that cannot compete with aerobic ones, which are abundant in the filter. The appropriate amount of anaerobic bacteria facilitates the faster and complete breakdown of NH3 and NH4, where, as you know, there is no oxygen.
Moreover, not only due to its porous surface but also because of its irregular shapes, the substrate can retain organic particles, clarifying the water. The "absorbed" suspension is gradually consumed by the bacteria living in your substrate.
An additional important feature that we cannot overlook is its resistance to decomposition. The aquatic plant soil Chihiros is produced using a proprietary process that has excellent anti-decomposition properties. Its decomposition rate does not exceed 3%, and it can be reused multiple times over three years. It is specially designed for enthusiasts who like to experiment with their aquarium layout. In short, you can dig as much as you want, and the substrate will not crumble. This is quite important because crumbling soil creates an impermeable mass, which does not work and only causes algae and dirty water.
